Hello Deanna, 

 

I’m so sorry! I thought I had told all of my lists and I forgot this one and one other. To answer your question, I just got home from going to Pilot the Easter evening and staying until Thursday. I went because of complications with my previous dog. It was determined by both me and the staff that it was time to let her go back to the school and let me get a new one. Surprisingly, I got a 17-month-old, cream-colored poodle who is fairly calm. She bonded to me quite quickly which isn’t always the case with poodles because they develop such a strong loyalty to their person. She has adjusted to home just like she had always been here which is definitely very refreshing.

I am so sorry to hear about your mother’s problems. I will pray ofr her and for wisdom of the doctors and other staff helping her while she is in the hospital. Please keep us posted as you are able.By the way, Mambo, you keep right on doing such a wonderful job!

Thank you Aleeha for running the Oagdu meeting last night in my absence. 

For those who are not aware, I was unable to attend last night’s conference call, so our wonderful VP helped me out by running the meeting. 

On Saturday morning, my mom was having some low back pain and leg pain. She has had sciatica issues before, so just figured it was a flare up of that. Well, after a few hours the pain got so intense, that she needed to go to the ER. While in the ER, she went to the bathroom and fell, hitting her shoulder. We weren’t really sure what caused her to fall, but the doctors decided to keep her overnight for observation. She was having difficulty walking as well. Yesterday, they had her up and walking a bit, which was still difficult for her, and they also did an MRI. From the results so far, it looks like she has some bulging discs which are causing the pain. She may need surgery, a Neurosurgeon will be consulting with her today. So, we should know more soon. We are still not sure why she has fallen a few times over the last couple of months (she has fallen at least 4 times since Christmas). She has also been experiencing an increase  in dizziness and nausea. She is still in the hospital now, but may be able to come home this afternoon. I will keep you all posted. 

To keep this guide dog related… Mambo has been a HUGE hit at the hospital. When we got off the elevator last night, all of the nurses and aides shouted out, “Awww, look Mambo’s back!” And he didn’t have any trouble finding his grandma’s room. In fact, he almost pulled me over because he was in such a hurry to greet her. LOL
