Hi all,
On Tuesday, April 10th, the National Federation of the Blind of Ohio will be having a Legislative Day/Seminar in Columbus. If you are able to, you can arrive in Columbus on Monday, April 9th for our "Great Gathering in". For more details, please see the message below from Sheri Albers, the NFB of Ohio Legislative Committee Chair. If you aren't able to come in on April 9th, don't worry, we will still need your help the following day.
We had really good success with this endeavor last year, so I expect this year will be even better! You will be in a group with several other NFB Members as we visit the State House to meet with several legislators discussing the legislation that the NFB of Ohio is working on.
We need as many Oagdu members as possible to participate and help out at this event. Please contact me, if you are interested in attending. This is a very important event and I hope that you will be able to help.
On our last Oagdu call, we approved that each paid Oagdu member who attends the Columbus Legislative Day/Seminar will receive $35 to help off-set the costs of transportation, etc. So please strongly consider joining us on this important day!
Make sure you read the below message from Sheri Albers for more information.
Thanks!
Deanna

Message from Sheri Albers

Dear NFB of Ohio members,

I am sure you have heard by now that our affiliate has planned a legislative day in Columbus on April 10, 2018. The Legislative Committee is hard at work to formulate the most effective agenda to bring to the Ohio state legislature.

On April 9, 2018, we are inviting the members of our delegation to come to the Sheraton in downtown Columbus for a "Great Gathering In", just as NFB does in Washington, D. C. This will allow us to review the fact sheets, provide training for the legislative meetings and discuss any last minute logistics that need to be addressed.

This year's Columbus Seminar will not be possible without your participation. Our Ohio state leaders want to hear your voice to tell them what you need, and what you want to see happen in our state. If you have been to Washington Seminar, or to last year's Columbus Seminar, then you know the impact you can make. If you have not had an opportunity to go, this may be your time to see what you can do for your fellow blind Ohioans.

All you need to do is contact President Richard Payne or Vice President Sheri Albers, and say "Yes, I will attend the Columbus Seminar!", and we will set you up with a team. If you have any questions, feel free to call Sheri Albers, 513-886-8697.

Best Regards,

Sheri Albers, Vice President

National Federation of the Blind of Ohio

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
