Oagdu Meeting minutes:
The January 11th Zoom meeting of the Ohio Association of Guide Dog Users started at 7:00 PM with the following present:
LuAnn
Marianne
Debbie
Deanna
Asia
Shane
Misty
Diane
Jackie
Joe
Shane moved to approve the November meeting minutes; Marianne seconded and the motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report: Our balance was $1572.85 as of December 31.
The account has now been moved to Huntington. We can now accept Zelle payments (with a small fee).
Debbie moved to accept the treasurer’s report; Shane seconded and the motion passed.
Fundraising: we have sold many of the 3D printed guide dogs. Models and brochures about our fundraiser have been sent to all of the Guide Dog Schools in the U.S.
Marianne spoke with Tony at AFB (American Foundation for the Blind) who was very excited about the guide dogs and will display one with the blind Barbie. AFB may be able to help promote it and help at the NFB National Convention. Marianne and her husband, Paul will be at the NFB Convention. They may also be able to sell Buckeyes at their table.
We discussed the possibility of having some of our members selling the 3D printed guide dogs at the ACB National Convention too.
We plan on sending a guide dog to Mattel, the makers of Barbie as well.
Deanna mentioned that the Honey Baked Ham gift card fundraiser is good through April 30th and has raised $37.
With the 3D dogs and Honey Baked Ham fundraisers keeping us busy, we will consider a
DoubleGood popcorn fundraiser in the Spring.
Update on Huntington/Bank info. Marianne says that OAGDU was previously using the NFBO’s EIN. When switching to Huntington, we needed our own EIN which Marianne applied for and received. There was a $99 charge for obtaining this number.
Marianne will be asking for reimbursement for this, along with some other business expenses like postage and the gift cards/prizes from the Christmas party. This total will be available at a future meeting.
We will also need to switch our NFB Pac Plan to deduct from the new account. National had issues on their end in November and December.
Shane will be at the Washington Seminar which will be held January 26-29. The state is covering hotel room and flight for attendees; however food and ground transportation are extra. Deanna made a Motion to give $50 to Shane, who is an active OAGDU Member, and also $25 to state to help offset expenses. Marianne made a friendly amendment of $100 to Shane and $25 to state; Shane seconded and the motion passed.
We discussed that the Quarterly calls featuring the Guide Dog Schools should continue. Some of the schools that we have not yet featured are: Fidelco, Gallant Hearts, Occupaws, Guiding Eyes. GDD, GDA, Freedom, and GDF.
Marianne says that Fidelco will most likely do March.
Deanna volunteered to contact a school to feature in June and possibly September.
We briefly discussed giving a donation to See 3D, but that has been tabled for now and will be discussed at a future meeting.
The next Oagdu call will take place on Sunday, February 8 at 7:00 PM.
Debbie moved to adjourn; Shane seconded and we concluded the meeting at 7:52.
Respectfully submitted,
Deanna Lewis
Secretary
