Hi,
I wanted to send these out as soon as possible, because I am having shoulder surgery this Friday.
Thanks!

OAGDU Meeting Minutes:
The July 12th Ohio Association of Guide Dog Users meeting began at 7:08 PM with the following members present:
Luann
Marianne
Deanna
Asia
Shane
Joe
Paula
Debbie
Jackie
Richard
Minutes: Shane moved to approve the June 14th meeting minutes, as emailed. Paula seconded and the minutes were approved.
Treasurer’s Report:
The beginning balance for June was: $2,325.29
The ending Balance, after income and expenses was:
$1,750.47
We had a brief discussion about what information from the Treasurer’s Report should be Included in the meeting minutes. It was decided that the full report would be given by Marianne, but only the starting and ending balances would be recorded in the minutes.
Debbie moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report, which Shane seconded, and it passed.
Fundraising: Deanna announced that the money raised from the Honey Baked Ham fundraiser was $87.
Marianne gave a brief report about Convention sales:
They sold out of all the pre-made 3D printed guide dogs at Convention. However, the Buckeyes didn’t sell as good as expected. There were several bags left over, hopefully we can sell these at the upcoming state convention.
We made about $1400 in sales, the official report will be given at the next meeting.
Marianne mentioned that we had not been contributing to the PAC plan recently, so she signed us up again for $10/month, which will start being deducted in August.
Guide Dog school presentations: Deanna has agreed to take over scheduling for further presentations. She will look into scheduling someone for the September 13th meeting.
Some schools that we have not yet heard from are:
Guide Dogs of America
Guide Dog Foundation
Guide Dogs of the Desert (not sure if they serve Ohio)?
MIRA USA (for children)
Freedom
*** please let me know if I have missed any other schools***
Convention Recap:
Those who were able to attend in person and listen virtually commented that the Nagdu Seminar was great. There were not a lot of school updates, because most of them had not yet arrived, so more schools gave reports at the business meeting.
Al Elia gave a legal update. Unfortunately, there has not been much improvement with access denials by self-identifying that you have a guide dog with Uber and/or Lyft. You are also able to identify if you are legally blind or totally blind via the app as well.
Guide Dog users can contact Nagdu to report issues at the following email addresses:
Lyft-feedback at nagdu.org
Uber-feedback at nagdu.org
In another session at Convention it was mentioned that people could try to take Uber and Lyft to small claims court in some states.
At the Nagdu Business meeting, the same Board Members were reelected. It was also mentioned the one of the hotels ( the JW Marriott) required guide dog users to fill out a form. This form was similar to those filled out by pet owners or on air travel. This requirement was quickly squashed by the Nagdu officials.
Marianne mentioned that next Sunday, July 19th, the Ohio Seniors Division would be talking about the National Convention.
Richard reported that the State Convention will be held November 5-8th, at the University of Dayton Marriott. Room rates are $129/night. It should also be noted that breakfast is not included.
Pre-registration is open now on the NFB Ohio website.
This will be Ohio’s 80th Convention.
Richard mentioned that Volunteer opportunities are available and they are also looking for local vendors.
Deanna moved to adjourn, Paula seconded and the meeting ended at 8:03 PM. The next meeting will be on Sunday, August 9th at 7:00 PM
