For those that don’t know, I have been having severe dog distraction issues with my yellow lab Dallas, to the point that he will bark, howl, and lunge at other dogs when he sees them. He has no aggression issues, but is definitely severely distracted. I’ve been using harsh corrections, recommended by my school, with a pinch collar to get halfway decent behavior out of him. Finally, today, it seems we have made significant progress. A very large dog was in a yard next to us as we walked by today, barking, but in good control by its owner. For once, Dallas did not look at the dog, did not bark, did not howl, and did not lunge. He pulled me quickly past the dog, as if he has finally understood that these behaviors would only encourage me to correct him. I am no longer as worried about early retirement for my wonderful baby boy. I don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch, but I am definitely hopeful. I am so so proud and feel that I need to share my happiness with the world. <br class=""><div class="">
