So I have Opera bathed once every three or four months. She smells better afterward. I’ll ask the groomer what shampoo he uses. I know it’s not for humans. When I was bathing the dogs myself, however, I used Sulfur Tar shampoo for the itchy times. It did seem to help, but came with the sulfur scent, of course. So I used a conditioner in addition to attempt to neutralize that sulfur smell. I felt, though, that it was more important to control the itchies than to worry about the sulfur smell. No one else commented about smelling sulfur when I used Sulfur Tar, but I could smell it being close to the dog. We have been on a coat of us and when we got home I noticed his entire back and was sticky! So, into the shower we went! We worked primarily in city environments, so brushing was usually enough for him.
