Brokenhearted
Everyone has experienced deep sorrow at some point in their lives, whether it’s the death of a loved one, loss of a job, estrangement from a family member, or the betrayal of a friend. Any one of these can easily leave you in the deep dark pit of despair. God has great empathy for your heartache. Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Jesus Himself experienced the heavy, crushing weight of heartache and pain. While in the Garden of Gethsemane He told three of His disciples, in Mark 14:34, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.” When you’re depressed, broken down, and at your lowest–Jesus is near! He is not only close but He wants to do something to eliminate your pain. The Bible says in Isaiah 61:1, “He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted.” You see, God has a million different ways to heal your heart. Sometimes it is through a friend that the Holy Spirit impresses to give you words of encouragement or just to let you know that someone cares. It may be a direct message from His Holy Word, or even the counsel of a spiritual leader. Whichever way God chooses to help you, remember that He cares–He REALLY cares! Jesus loves you so much that He can’t imagine heaven without you, and He doesn’t want to see you suffer! He loves you more than anyone else possibly could and He knows when you’re suffering. It’s not His desire that anyone should suffer. So when life seems hopeless and you’re lost in the angry, dark dungeon of depression, claim God’s precious promise in Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous, Do not be afraid or terrified . . . for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” Text: Matthew 11:28, Psalm 71:20, Psalm 147:3, Psalm 73:26

Psalm 147:3 NKJV - He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. 

Psalm 73:26 NKJV - My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
