Did You Say Thank You?
Whenever you do something nice for someone, it always “feels good,” to receive a response of thankfulness. Although that should not be your reason for giving–it’s human nature to want to hear that the receiver of your kindness was indeed grateful. If you sent someone a birthday gift and never received a “thank you,” or even an acknowledgement that they received or liked their present, the next year you probably wouldn’t send a gift at all. There is even a story in the Bible that tells how God values a thankful heart. When He healed ten lepers, only ONE leper came back to thank Him. The Bible says in Luke 17:15, “One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice.” And then Jesus answered and said in Luke 17:17, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?” Clearly Jesus was disappointed that those nine lepers didn’t have enough love or consideration for the new life he had given them. How thankful are you for what God has done in your life? Do you remember to thank Him when your prayer is answered and your cancer is gone, or do you say, “Wow, that chemo really worked!” When you’re having car trouble and you cry out for God to help you, then all of a sudden your car starts–do you shrug it off as a coincidence, or do you praise God for starting your car? In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, we’re told, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Before ending your prayer where you listed all the things you want God to do for you–don’t forget to say “thank You” for what He has already done. Text:1 Chronicles 16:34, Colossians 3:17, Philippians 4:6, Psalm 100:4
