Facing Your Fears
Today all around the world people are wearing masks. If you ask ten people why they wear a mask, you’ll get ten different answers. Some will say they wear a mask because they are afraid of getting sick. Others will say they wear it out of respect for the public who are afraid of getting a virus. Then there are those who say they wear it because they are afraid of dying from COVID. Whether or not you choose to wear a mask or believe it is right or wrong is not the point as this is only a metaphor, in some sense, for the fear of death many are experiencing now. Some people are so filled with fear that they become absolutely terrified of their own shadow. They are so afraid of dying that they stop “living”! Someone once said, “Fear does not stop death, it stops life and worrying doesn't take away tomorrow's troubles–it takes away today’s peace.” Oh, how true that is. Simply put, fear left unchecked will ruin your life by keeping you immobilized and incapable of enjoying each new day. It will make you think that you’re protected by putting yourself in a self-created bubble, but don’t be fooled . . . because it won’t work! God wants you to be sensible and act responsibly, but He does not want you to live your life wearing the heavy burden of fear. It doesn’t matter the reason you’re afraid, whether it is a worldwide pandemic or anything else causing you to tremble and shake, there is only one way to conquer your fears and that is by fighting fear with faith! The most common command in the Bible is “Do not be afraid, fear not.” God does not want His children paralyzed by fear, so He has provided the perfect antidote–His deep and abiding love. When you put your trust in God’s Word, there is no reason to fear. The Bible says in Isaiah 41:13, “For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’ ” Face your fears every day by putting your faith and trust in Jesus for He is the only One who can give you real and soul-satisfying peace. Selah"
