Our Only Security
Everyday the news is flooded with reports of terrible things happening to innocent people and unfortunately that won’t change until Jesus comes. There is really no place on this earth that is truly “safe.” The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:8, that the devil is walking around like a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour. But there is no need to live in fear–for your safety is in God and God alone! In Psalm 91:4, He promised that you can take refuge under His wings and in Proverbs 18:10 it says that God’s name alone is a strong tower that you can run to and be safe. For whatever reason, it seems that “fear” can easily get out of control at night time.Sometimes in the evening when you’re trying to sleep, your mind won’t stop thinking about all the horrible things that “could happen.” Before you know it, every bad thing is now racing through your head. But don’t allow worry to steal even one moment of sleep. Give all your fears and insecurities to Jesus! There’s no need to build a fortress to keep out the nightmares–just claim God’s promise in Psalm 4:8, “I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” What a beautiful promise demonstrating God’s love for us. Choose today to put your faith and trust in God and tonight you will “sleep like a baby.” Text: Proverbs 1:33, Psalm 121:7-8, Psalm 112:7
