Misery Is Optional
There may be times when life has taught you lessons you didn’t want to learn or shown you things you didn’t want to see. But that’s to be expected because our world is sinful, and as a result, you will experience heartache, sadness, and failures. No one has ever lived on this earth without shedding a tear. Pain is inevitable in this world, but misery is optional. How you react to life’s difficulties reveals your character. You can choose to put your full faith and trust in God or wallow in self-pity bathing in a bathtub of tears. The choice is yours. Whatever challenge you are facing, however brokenhearted you are, cling to Jesus. There is never a trial that you will have to face alone, for God is right there beside you. He will give you the strength and courage to face each moment. Even broken things can be blessings if you allow God to do the mending. With Jesus, there is joy after heartache! Even broken crayons can still color a beautiful picture. Sometimes our most difficult circumstances can bring the greatest blessings. Don’t lose hope because Jesus is your hope! The only way to maneuver through this life’s ups and downs is to rely on God for strength to face each day. The Bible says in Psalm 28:7, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” At the end of your life, what really matters isn’t all the times you failed, all the suffering you experienced, or the tears you cried. It’s not what you went through but what God carried you through! Text: John 16:33, 1 Peter 5:9-10, Psalm 34:17-19, 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

Bible Texts:
John 16:33 NKJV - "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

1 Peter 5:9-10 NKJV - Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

Psalm 34:17-19 NKJV - The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NKJV - We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed--
