Price of Freedom
Since the beginning of time, freedom has always come with a tremendous price. It all started in the Garden of Eden when Eve accepted Satan’s devious offer of independence from God. This one deadly decision cost her and the entire human race their freedom, because now they were enslaved to sin. What she thought was an amazing deal too good to pass up led to generation after generation of heartache, pain, and death. I can just imagine the tears of anguish and regret that plagued Eve her entire life. However, because of God’s great love for man, He sent His only Son to this earth to save us from our sins and set us free from Satan’s deadly bondage. Without this tremendous sacrifice, there would be no hope for sinners. But sometimes, just like Eve, we desire the freedom to do what we want regardless of what we know God wants us to do. We forget the consequences of sin and the high price Christ paid for our freedom. Every time we yield to sinful pleasures, we become slaves of Satan instead of living as free children of God. The Bible says in Galatians 5:1, “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” The only way to have everlasting joy, happiness, and freedom is by giving your heart to Jesus and living for Him. God reminds us of our heavenly reward in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Text: John 8:34, Romans 6:6, 2 Peter 2:19, 1 Peter 2:16

Bible Texts:
John 8:34 NKJV - Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.

Romans 6:6 NKJV - knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.

2 Peter 2:19 NKJV - While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.

1 Peter 2:16 NKJV - as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.
