Melt the Anger
There are times when someone has hurt you so deeply, that there is absolutely no desire within you to forgive. You start building a wall higher and higher, thicker and thicker, all because you don’t want to give them the power to hurt you ever again. The fortress between you and your enemy provides the perfect environment for bitterness, anger, tears and righteous indignation! You find it harder and harder to follow God’s admonition in Matthew 18:21 where He says you should forgive seventy times seven! But before you start feeling all justified for building your wall of defense: think about what Jesus would do. When He was here on earth, people lied about Him, spread rumors and gossip, and ultimately crucified Him on a cross for something He was not guilty of. Yet through it all, He bore the pain in loving silence. Even as He hung on the cross, He prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34) Instead of falling prey to the bondage of a heart hardened by hurt and betrayal, reach out to Jesus and ask Him to put forgiveness in your heart. Pray that you will love as He loves and allow God to melt the anger in your heart and enjoy the sweet peace of forgiveness! Text: Matthew 18:21-22, 1 John 1:9, Matthew 6:14, Psalm 51:10-12

Bible Texts:
Matthew 18:21-22 NKJV - Then Peter came to Him and said, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

1 John 1:9 NKJV - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Matthew 6:14 NKJV - "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you."

Psalm 51:10-12 NKJV - Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
