The Right Companion
One of the beautiful gifts God has given is the sanctity of marriage. He created man and women to be together, as equals to walk through life as partners, friends and lovers. But it takes Holy Spirit guidance and wisdom to select the right companion. Other than your decision to follow Christ, the single most important decision you will make in life is selecting your mate. That’s why it’s critically important to pray before even starting your search and claim Psalm 37:4, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Everyone has different criteria of what they want in a companion. Usually on the list is initial attraction, confidence, ambitious, financially secure and a good sense of humor. However, more important than any of those specifications, are characteristics that are critical if you want to have real joy and happiness in your relationship. 1. Do they love God? 2. Do they have integrity and a Christ-like character? 3. Are they kind? Not just to their friends and loved ones but how do they treat strangers? 4. Are they unselfish? Do they put others' needs before their own? 5. Are they loyal? Trustworthy? Faithful? If you’re dating someone that is pulling you away from God–then you can know for certain that it is not a relationship that is sanctioned by God! Choose someone that is going to strengthen you spiritually, push you to be better, and motivate you to achieve higher goals. Avoid drama, attention seekers, jealousy, quick tempers, and anyone who wants to change or control you. Choose someone who will bring out the best in you, someone you share common interests with and someone who is not always focused on themselves. Life is way too short to leave the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket. Pray for wisdom and guidance–God will give it to you! And one last critical piece of advice when looking for love: Make God first in your home and always treat your spouse like you are still trying to win them- for that’s how you will never lose them! TEXT: 2 Corinthians 6:14, 1 Corinthians 15:33, Proverbs 31:30, Psalm 1:1-3

Bible Texts:
2 Corinthians 6:14 NKJV - Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

1 Corinthians 15:33 NKJV - Do not be deceived: "Evil company corrupts good habits."

Proverbs 31:30 NKJV - Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.

Psalm 1:1-3 NKJV - Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
