Invisibles
There are people who are comfortable in the limelight and even those who actually want to be the center of attention. Then there are those who are happier “behind the scenes” and don’t like to be noticed at all. Everyone has different personalities and backgrounds that contribute to the person you are today. If you were given opportunities to be up front as a child, you are probably more comfortable in the spotlight as an adult. However if you stayed in the background when you were little, you are quite likely more comfortable hugging the shadows. However, parents and even teachers may not be aware of the suffering kids go through who are “invisible.” These are the kids who receive more than their fair share of rejection through childhood. Perhaps they are made fun of because they are not physically attractive, they don’t wear the latest trends and styles, their parents aren’t wealthy, or they come to school smelling like an ashtray because their parents smoke. These children are the last to be chosen for a team project or sports because they are not that coordinated, or no one wanted to play with them. They sit alone at recess, lunch, and on the school bus because they are not part of the “popular” group. But no matter how the world sees you, concentrate on who God sees! When others saw Sarah as a barren woman, God saw the mother of all nations. When others saw David as a poor shepherd, God saw a mighty King. When Joseph’s brothers saw a spoiled brat who was their father’s favorite, God saw the governor of Egypt. If you’re struggling with self-image, feelings of being inadequate, or if you’re just plain shy, don’t forget that God created you to “be you.” He gave you talents to use for Him–not to hide. He wants you to “shine” for Him. No matter what others see, remember that God sees YOU and He has especially chosen you for greatness! Text: Exodus 4:10-12, Matthew 5:5, 1 Samuel 16:7, Isaiah 64:8
Bible Texts:
Exodus 4:10-12 NKJV - Then Moses said to the LORD, "O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue." So the LORD said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the LORD? "Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say."
Matthew 5:5 NKJV - Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.
1 Samuel 16:7 NKJV - But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
Isaiah 64:8 NKJV - But now, O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.
