Bargaining with God
It’s easy to talk about how wonderful God is and how much you love Him when everything is going smoothly in your life. But it is when you’re faced with a crisis that your faith is truly tested, especially if you are not receiving the answer you want and in your time frame. Perhaps that’s when you’re tempted to start bargaining with God in an attempt to manipulate Him to give you what you want. “I’ll stop swearing if you will just let my child live,” “I’ll give you more offerings if you’ll stop this foreclosure on my house,” or “I promise to start going to church regularly if you heal me from this cancer,” and on and on. But trying to make a deal with God or tell Him how to answer your prayers is not how prayer works. It’s hard to be patient when you are suffering. The devil tempts you to think that because God doesn’t intervene and give you the miracle you demanded that He doesn’t love you. But this isn’t the time to start finding fault with God or blaming Him because of your crisis. It is going through your toughest trial that you need to trust God the most–especially His love for you and His perfect timing! When faced with a crisis, have faith that God will answer according to what is best for you. Psalm 34:17-18 tells us, “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Remember, He loves you more than anyone else possibly could and will always act in your best interest, so put your full faith and trust in God . . . starting today! Text: Psalm 86:1-13, Isaiah 41:10, Proverbs 3:5-6, 1 Peter 5:7

Bible Texts:
Psalm 86:1-13 NKJV - A Prayer of David. Bow down Your ear, O LORD, hear me; For I am poor and needy. Preserve my life, for I am holy; You are my God; Save Your servant who trusts in You! Be merciful to me, O Lord, For I cry to You all day long. Rejoice the soul of Your servant, For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You. Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; And attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me. Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord; Nor are there any works like Your works. All nations whom You have made Shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And shall glorify Your name. For You are great, and do wondrous things; You alone are God. Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore. For great is Your mercy toward me, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

Isaiah 41:10 NKJV - Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'

Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV - Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

1 Peter 5:7 NKJV - casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
