Greener Pastures
Sometimes when you compare yourself with others, you could start to feel like your life is not as good as theirs and the pasture is greener on the other side. Perhaps your sister has a better job and makes more money than you do, or your neighbor has five kids and you just found out you can’t have children, or your best friend can sing, play the guitar, and is all-around more talented than you are. At a business dinner, your colleague brags about the new boat they just bought for their vacation home and instantly you can’t stop thinking about how you can barely afford to pay the rent on the house you are living in, much less being able to afford purchasing a vacation home. Instead of being thankful for the blessings you do have, you start resenting God for not blessing you in the way that you feel you deserve. Jealousy has a way of turning into hatred and bitterness and choking out any chance of happiness. Have you ever considered that being envious is the same as objecting to God’s blessings that He’s given to others? Because that is exactly what jealousy is and there is absolutely no room for envy in a Christian’s life. To remove the sin of jealousy, you must first admit to yourself that you are jealous. Next, you need to confess your sin to God, ask Him for forgiveness, and then plead with Him to make you sincerely thankful for all the blessings He has bestowed on others. When you start counting the blessings God has given you, you’ll find that you have much to thank Him for. Soon you’ll realize you have nothing to be jealous of because God has your best interest at heart. If you really knew the end from the beginning, you wouldn’t want it any other way than God’s way! TEXT: James 3:14-16, Proverbs 14:30, 1 Corinthians 3:3, Romans 12:15

Bible Texts:
James 3:14-16 NKJV - "But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there."

Proverbs 14:30 NKJV - "A sound heart is life to the body, But envy is rottenness to the bones."

1 Corinthians 3:3 NKJV - "for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?"

Romans 12:15 NKJV - "Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep."
