Remembering Our Heroes
Today is Memorial Day, a day in which we honor the service members who bravely and courageously fought and died for our country. Because of their great sacrifice, we enjoy the freedom we have today. As we honor the fallen, let us remember the ultimate price they paid for our freedom. For every soldier, sailor, marine, airman, and coast guard member who dies, lives are changed forever. Not only are their lives cut short, but spouses, children, parents, and extended family struggle with this tremendous loss - grieving the “shared tomorrows” that will never be. Think of the countless families whose children grew up without a mother or father, daughters that walked down the aisle alone, or sons who didn’t have a mother to share in the joy of his firstborn child. One of the worst forms of pain is the heartache of losing a loved one. When we hear of a military family whose loved one has died, let us have compassion and extend our love and support. Not only has a service member given their life for our country, but their family has paid the price as well. All gave some, but some gave all. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice when He came to this earth, and willingly gave His life so that we might live with Him for all eternity. At any time He could have changed His mind, and yet because of His great love for us, He died an agonizing, painful death on a hill called Calvary. Oh how different our lives would be if it were not for His love. The Bible tells us in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Oh what an awesome incredible God we serve who loves you with an everlasting, unending, unmeasurable kind of love! He not only loves you, but He is building a mansion for you right now so that you can live with Him in heaven forever, where there will be no more tears, broken hearts, wars, fighting, or dying. There will be only joy and happiness, where each day will be more wonderful than the day before. When your heart is breaking, remember that Jesus is the only Healer of hearts, and He is waiting to wrap you in His comforting arms of love! Today as we honor the heroes who loved their country so much that they gave their lives, let us also give honor and praise to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who died for us all. Text: John 14:1-3, John 11:25, Joshua 1:9, Matthew 10:28
Bible Texts:
John 14:1-3 NKJV - ""Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."
John 11:25 NKJV - "Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live."
Joshua 1:9 NKJV - ""Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.""
Matthew 10:28 NKJV - ""And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
