You’re Gonna Be Okay
The loss of a personal relationship with someone you truly love can be absolutely devastating. No matter the reason, when you give your love to someone and that relationship ends, the pain of your loss is gut-wrenching. Knowing that it’s over is only the first step. Dealing with the memories of the sound of their voice, tender moments shared, or their warm embrace and knowing you will never, ever experience them again can send you into the pit of depression. It’s not about just pushing through until you get to the other side, because there is no other side! Instead, allow yourself time to grieve and reflect so that you can absorb, adjust, and accept. Grief is not something that you just “get over,” but rather something that you learn to live with and endure. When the person you’ve given your heart to has been in your constant thoughts for so long, it’s only natural that it will take time to find your new normal. You don’t just stop loving someone because it’s over. In fact, in many cases, real love never dies. Just because the relationship ended, doesn’t mean the love wasn’t “real.” The important thing is that Jesus is the Healer of hearts . . . and He is the “only” Healer of hearts! Give Him your pain, your broken dreams, and cherished memories and allow Him to wipe away your tears. He alone can take away the suffering and fill your tormented heart with His gift of joy. The Bible says in Psalm 147:3, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Pray for God to give you the strength to let go, move on from what was lost, and heal the gaping hole in your heart. Also ask Him to bless and watch over your loved one and thank Him for the time they were in your life. Remember . . . Jesus loves you more than anyone else ever could. You’re gonna be okay.
