A Loyal Friend
In this world today there are far too many people who are always looking out for themselves. Because of selfishness, it is a rare thing to find an authentic and genuinely loyal friend. Oh yes, there are plenty of people who “pretend” to be your friend because of what you can do for them, who you know, or how you can help them get ahead financially. Sadly, some would even sell out their own mother for the right price. Some ”friends” aren’t really loyal to you–they are loyal to their “need of you.” Once their needs change, so does their loyalty. It is during the worst times of your life that you will see the true colors of the people who say they care for you, because when you are down and out, they will disappear. A true and loyal friend doesn’t care how much you weigh, if your house is a mess, what kind of car you drive, if you are broke, or how crazy your family is–they just love you for who you are. A friend who is loyal, trustworthy, and faithful is truly someone to cherish and thank God for. Thankfully, everyone has at least one loyal Friend and His name is Jesus! He will be there for you through thick and thin, rain or shine, rejoicing with you when you are happy and comforting you when you are sad. No matter what kind of mood you are in or how much you disappoint Him, He will always love you! John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.” Jesus Christ proved His love for you on Calvary. He will never turn His back on you no matter what trouble you are in, what mistakes you’ve made, or how foolish your decisions were–because He loves you with His pure, abiding love. There simply is NO friend who is more loyal than that! Text: Ecclesiastes 4:10-12, Proverbs 18:24, 2 Kings 2:2, Proverbs 27:5-6

Bible Texts:
Ecclesiastes 4:10-12 NKJV - For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Proverbs 18:24 NKJV - A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

2 Kings 2:2 NKJV - Then Elijah said to Elisha, "Stay here, please, for the LORD has sent me on to Bethel." But Elisha said, "As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!" So they went down to Bethel.

Proverbs 27:5-6 NKJV - Open rebuke is better Than love carefully concealed. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
