Honoring God At Work
Most Christians would never dream of being a thief, yet many steal every day and don’t even realize it. When they go to work, instead of being conscious that their employer is paying for their time–they visit at the watercooler, sharing personal stories about their lives, then chit chat on the phone with a friend or family member, and if they meet someone in the hall, they’ll stop to tell a joke, or share how they spent their vacation. All those minutes spent talking about personal things takes your time from accomplishing the job you’re being paid to do. Not only are you robbing your company of time they are paying for, but you’re also causing other people to do the same. The Bible says in Colossians 3:23, “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” And in Proverbs 10:2-5, we’re told, “He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich. He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.” God does not condone laziness or dishonesty–so determine today to honor God at work by having an honest work ethic, using your talents and energy to do the best job you can do–letting your employer and co-workers see Jesus in you! Text: Proverbs 13:4, Matthew 25:1-3, Matthew 10:22
