Dayton, Ohio
Gamal A. Peters, affectionately known as "Red," was born on June 28, 1978,
in Dayton, Ohio. He passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, surrounded
by his beloved family.
A dedicated caregiver at ViaQuest Residential Services for the last seven
years, Gamal made a significant impact in the lives of those he served. His
kind and generous spirit extended beyond his professional life as he also
owned and operated J & G Auto Sales, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit
and commitment to providing for his community.
Gamal was a proud graduate of Dunbar High School, where he left an indelible
mark on his peers, having been selected as a first team All City football
player during the 1995 and 1996 seasons. He further enriched his education
by attending Knoxville College in Tennessee and Sinclair College in Dayton,
laying a foundation for a life characterized by continuous growth and
learning.
Those who knew Gamal cherished his charismatic and humorous personality. He
had a remarkable ability to spread joy and laughter, deeply valuing his time
spent with family and friends. Cooking and drawing were just a few of his
hobbies that illustrated his creativity and love for life.
Gamal's family means everything to him. He is survived by his daughter,
Kimora Amira Peters; his stepdaughter, Alexandria Smith; and several godsons
and goddaughters. His loving mother, Carolyn Peters and father, Gregory L.
Gilmore, remain to honor his memory, along with siblings, Carlton (Lora)
Gilmore, Deidra (Kevin) Bartlett, Joel (Denita) Carson, Stalisha Gilmore,
and Michael Banks. Gamal also leaves behind cherished cousins, Shomari
Peters, Heather Peters and her sons, Christopher and Case Tinsley-Peters,
and many other cousins, as well as his uncle, Foster Peters Jr., aunt, Linda
Peters and mother of Kimora and Alexandria, Franadell Smith.
Among his closest friends were Pamela Washington-Parks, Michael Hanson and
Hanson family, James Williams, and Frederick Harris, who will undoubtedly
carry forward his legacy of kindness and laughter.
Gamal will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but for the warmth
he brought to the hearts of those around him. He touched the lives of many
and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the
privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rev. Willard and
Mattie Gilmore; maternal grandparents, Foster and Claris Peters; and his
uncle, David Lee Peters.
Family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4,
2025 at Newcomer Kettering, 3940 Kettering Blvd. A memorial service will
begin at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Pamela Lane to officiate.
