Good afternoon Suzanne, 

 

>From what we understand, the House of Representatives will be back in
session in DC next week and then back in the districts the week of
Thanksgiving. 

 

While we are pleased that the furlough is over and that the RIF at the
Department of Education has been rescinded, we believe that it is still
essential for us to continue to stress the importance of education,
rehabilitation, and employment for blind Americans. In that regard, we
recommend continuing to reach out to your members of Congress, but instead
of making the meeting solely about the RIF, really stress the critical
nature of these three items.

Ohio Leaders,

 

Thank you for joining the meeting this evening. Also, for those who I spoke
to directly, thank you for stepping up.

 

On tomorrow, I will send out an email to the membership to have them join a
team. I will let you know who will be joining you.

 

Just a note! President Payne reminded me this afternoon that Congress has
their own TEAM and Zoom Room. If you can used theirs, do so. Please do not
forget to send me your appointments and CC President Payne.

 

We all are to work together. Remember, each team has many roles to serve.
So, even if a member is not a lead, they are just as important.

 

However, if you know of a few members who would like to join your team,
please compile them, and let's schedule those virtual or in-person district
meetings. Attached is the entire House Directory. Please locate your
Congressional member and contact their staffer. For a few Congressional
members below, I have left the D.C. contact info in case you cannot reach
the district.

 

Please do your best to schedule a meeting for Monday or Tuesday of next
week. Please send me and CC President Payne to assist with scheduling the
zoom room for your virtual meetings.
