<p style="margin: 0;"><span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(21, 26, 34);">While for many, the summer months are a time to slow down and take a pause, the staff at Xavier Society remains busy, fulfilling requests for reading materials in braille, audio, and large print. Now working with nearly 20 freelance braille transcribers, it is a busy time for all of our staff, getting braille books transcribed externally, and then embossed in house. Currently much of this effort is on behalf of our younger patrons as they look forward to the new school year.</span></p>

<p style="margin: 0;"><span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(21, 26, 34);">On June 27 I had the honor and pleasure of attending, along with our Board President Paul Fontaine and our wives and several of Xavier Society\u2019s patrons and friends, the premiere of the American Foundation for the Blind\u2019s film </span><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; color: rgb(21, 26, 34);">Possibilities</span><span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(21, 26, 34);"> at Carnegie Hall, here in New York City. This award-winning documentary is a celebration of the legacy of Helen Keller as told through the shared stories of 21st-century voices. </span><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; color: rgb(21, 26, 34);">Possibilities</span><span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(21, 26, 34);"> is a thought provoking and moving film, and serves as an important reminder of all that people with disabilities can achieve when given the opportunity and appropriate support. It also serves as a reminder of why organizations like Xavier Society for the Blind and the American Foundation for the Blind are essential in providing support to people who are blind and visually impaired, and capable of achieving great things! Congratulations to the AFB for the production and release of this film, and for a wonderful evening!</span></p>
