I share this email inquiry with you for what it is worth.
I'm not sure what I think of it but it might be of some interest to some of you and if anyone is mor familiar with this as a possible fund raiser, by all means talk to me.
While I've got your attention, I don't believe we have the resources to participate in the BELL program at this time.
It would take a lot of time and energy and specific expertise in Braille instruction to do it right and if we were to ever do something like this we'd want to do it right wouldn't we?

Subject: cell phone fundraiser to help raise extra funds for the National Federation of the Blind
Hello President,
Would anyone in your organization be interested in doing a cell phone fundraiser to help raise extra funds for the National Federation of the Blind and help the environment at the same time by keeping cell phones out of landfills?
a.. The average American cell phone user owns 2 or more cell phones.
b.. According to a JD Power and Associates report the average replacement cycle for a typical handset is 17.6 months.
c.. It is estimated that more than 140 million cell phones are retired each year and over 500 million cell phones are currently stockpiled in US homes.
d.. It is estimated that up to 75 percent of obsolete cell phones are stockpiled in drawers by people who don't know what else to do with them.
· No selling! What could be better than a fund raising program that doesn't require anyone to sell anything? You collect items that would otherwise be thrown away - and you help the environment in the process.
If your organization would like to start a cell phone collection program or if you have any questions about the Wireless Fundraiser cell phone recycling program as a cell phone fundraiser; please contact me at 800-364-0258. The Wireless Fundraiser program www.wirelessfundraiser.com is solely owned and operated by RMS Communications.
You would be able to track shipments, order shipping boxes (no charge), and print out free mailing labels to send in your shipments all online with our Totaltrak system.
We also provide a link and graphics for online cell phone donations. Link may be added to e-mails or web sites where supporters can download a free mailing label from the comfort of their homes to send in their donated cell phones.
Depending on the cell phone's make, model and condition; we pay anywhere from a $.50 minimum to $200.00 per phone.
The used or donated phones we would pay your organization for usually fall into three categories.
Those that are functioning and hold market value are sold for re-use within our country and South America, but we do not ship any phones overseas.
Phones that are functional yet have no value. These models are donated to our own non-profit, the www.911CellPhoneBank.org to be used as emergency phones. This organization works directly with the National Sheriff's Association and the National Association of Triads to distribute emergency phones to victims of domestic abuse, the elderly, and others in need.
The last category consists of damaged or non-working phones. We insure these phones are disposed of in a proper and environmentally responsible manner.
RMS Communications was founded in 1985. Since that time we have grown into a company that offers many innovative solutions to the wireless world which includes buying, selling, and repairing over 20,000+ pagers each month, 50,000+ cell phones, inventory management, and a host of fulfillment needs. We currently work with National and International carriers, Resellers, and Retailers of all sizes to bring the best possible goods and services to our clients.
I look forward to hearing from you soon, best regards,
Joyce Wackerling
