Hello Again, All,

I forgot to say, if any of those extremely long links with the resources
below won't work for you, either by copying and pasting into your browser,
or clicking them, you can simply go to http://yp.yahoo.com and search for
your local resources yourself.

On the first page simply type in the category of local business you want.
Such as school, taxi, restaurant, radio, etc. Then click "Search."

On the next page there are several fields. The only one you need to really
fill in is the field titled, "City, State, & Zip." And I never put in a Zip
code. Just the city and state work fine. "Toledo, OH" in this instance.
Then tab two or three times to the "Continue" button and press Enter.

Next you will get either a listing of several choices where you'll need to
whittle down your choices more specifically, or it will bring you to the
listings page. Either way, here's the cool part:

On the listings page for your city, you'll find at the bottom of the
listings, a link titled, "Beyond (City Name)." Beyond Toledo, in this
instance. Click that, or press Enter or whatever.

Now, on this page, find the link near the top titled, "Distance."

It brings you to a page with up to 20 listings. If there are more than 20
results, it gives you 20 per page. Starting with the closest one to the
downtown point of your city of choice. So the first few businesses might
show the mileage as 0.4, 1.2, 3.7, etc. That means they're 0.4, 1.2, or 3.7
miles from downtown Toledo. It's great!

The Yahoo Yellow Pages service, which is what this is, gives up to 210
listings if there are that many within a 50-mile radius of the downtown
point of whatever city you search. It always does a 50-mile radius search
and gives up to approximately 210 listings.

So, yes, each of us in other cities around the state - and around the
nation - can search our own city and state, and find thousands of local
resources to help in chapter building.

The one drawback is you don't get Zip codes with the addresses they give.
But you get phone numbers, addresses (except for the Zip codes), and
approximate mileage from the center of your town. Not too shabby for being
free. And amazingly easy once you do it a couple of times. (smile)

They always show you the "sponsored links" page first in the results. So
remember to click on "Beyond (City Name)" and then on "Distance."

Strive On!
Everett
