Subject: Great program: trading talents and skills for services needed

Hello all,

I really wanted to share this great program I just learned about with you in the hopes that some will get involved and be able to share your unique skills and talents and in turn be able to gain something. With the difficult economy, people are really getting excited about community time banks, modern bartering programs, in order to help others by sharing talents and receiving services they need in return.

Depending on your location, some "Time banks" are larger than others. I know both in Madison and Cleveland there are local time banks where people join, are screened and begin sharing their services and earning "time dollars" to be exchanged for various other services. I discovered this through a local contact with Catholic Charities in Madison in order to get some transportation resources. I think it's a great way to become more neighborly and share what you have in order to fulfill a need. You can also sign up organizations, schools etc in order to increase volunteer services with your organization.

Definitely check it out by going to the national database at http://community.timebank.org and click on find time bank to see your local organization.

Please spread the word to anyone you know as the time banks share services like tutoring, driving, teaching music or foreign language, cosmetology, painting and home services and any number of skills.

Good luck and hope this works for some of you!

~Leslie
