Dawn?:

By the time I read this message, I will be in Labor Day mode. Everything
notwithstanding, I know what it's like to reach out for help. Barb Pierce
is a life-saver. In the Braille Monitor in 1993, I read of some incidents
at Valley Fair Amusement Park in Shackopee, Minnesota, of which blind
people fought for the right to maneuver around the park by themselves. In
the same issue, Barb discussed problems at the ohio State Fair, in which a
blind person was not allowed to ride a ride by himself. The NFB went to
bat.

I heard about Eric Duffy's friend, Misty Pierce. I taught Misty the
value of opening up to people. (I wish, strongly, she were on the list.)

I've had a tough go in NFB. But I've learned to be patient. I don't
worry much about other members of another organization think, I respect
their opinions, too.

And, as for Eric.

Both Erics have learned from each other. Eric Duffy taught me and others
to back away from iron-handed practices, and think for ourselves. He has
by example through humor and advocacy.

And Dawn, I encourage you to reach out. There are people who care. They
can count on you; will you count on them?

I would like to talk to you, too. I can count on you; can you count on
me?

Eric
