Dear Dr Smith,
When we last talked, you said to "hold Holloween for us" because of the Ohio NFB Conference. We were thinking that there might be time for me to show the fabric pictures that I make to the participants and that we could make an effort to inform the art museums in Ohio about this simple way to make more of their collections available to the blind and to those who need a tactile experience.
I have been approached by the OSU Urban Arts Space in Columbus, Ohio (www.uas.osu.edu/exhibition/tactilecolor ) and have agreed to let them have the pictures for an exhibit that will be from October 6 through February 26th. I am hoping that there will be a joint cooperation between OSU and the NFB to make a special event available to your conference attendees. The Urban Arts Space is making a special effort to reach out to the blind in Columbus, and I think they should be recognized for their efforts. And, after your conference attenders experience what is possible, they can better advocate for more accessability in art musuems near their homes.
Eva Ball from the Urban Arts Space said she had spoken with someone from the Columbus NFB, but had not been able to firm anything up. I was hoping that you could encourage the Conference committee to follow up and see what could be done.
Hope it all works out, and that I will have a chance to meet you.
Warmly,
SallyB
