Dear Rachel,

My name is Debra Baker and I taught blind children for 33 years before I
retired this past June. I attended the higher education programs provided
by the Ohio State University
Which continues to be a good program under the direction of Doctor Tiffany
Wilde, and also the program at the University of Texas at Austin for
graduate work. I'm not sure if the latter university still maintains a
program to teach the blind. There are also programs of higher education at
the University of Eastern Michigan and at Louisiana Tech University in
Rustin, Louisiana. The Louisiana program is probably the best recommended
by the National Federation of the Blind. If I can be of
Additional help, we can communicate off list and you can email me at the
address for Western Ohio Roadrunner that appears in the "from" field of
this email.

Best regards,

Debra Baker, Springfield, Ohio

Subject: Seeking Information

Dear NFB of Ohio,

My name Is Rachel Fetsko and I am seeking information on becoming a teacher
for the deaf/blind or the visually impaired. Is there a demand for teachers
in this field? What colleges or Universities have the best programs for
training teachers? What schools have the best programs for teachers who are
blind or visually impaired themselves?

Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for reading this message. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Rachel Fetsko
