Subject: FW: Committees for the 129th G.A.

C colleagues,

Please find below excerpts from a letter written by the upcoming speaker of the House, 129th General Assembly. I thought many of you would appreciate the new committees list, reduced from 27 to 17. Of note, Aging and Disability which was created at the start of the 128th G.A. no longer exists.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Sammons

In recent weeks I have spoken to several of you regarding House Committees. Below please find a list of standing committees and subcommittees for the 129th General Assembly. This new structure will provide a considerable increase in the workload and frequency of meetings taking place for each committee. In addition, a number of committees intend to hold their hearings during evening hours.

The committee structure, along with expansion of committee meeting times, will allow for a greater opportunity of public participation and transparency in the legislative process. This will also allow members of the House to have more time to thoroughly work on each piece of legislation for drafting and amending purposes.
