Yes, I agree. This is good information. Our elections are in November.
Want to run for an office? LOL

Hi Richard, and all,

'Great ideas' to help gain, keep, and inspire
membership? Okay, I'll bite.....

Here are 3 ideas for you:

* Set up a small committee to keep track of people's
birthdays, maybe even various anniversaries, etc. as
well as when people in the group are sick,
hospitalized, or whatever. Make sure someone keeps on
top of these things, and as a chapter, things like
flowers and/or cards are sent to them while in the
hospital, or for their anniversary, birthday, or
whatever. Yes, saying it's "from the group" can seem
cheesy to some, but it still makes a difference to know
someone or a group of someones even, are paying
attention to the details of one's life. We did this in
my Florida chapter and it went well, I think. Updates
were given at each meeting, as to the expenses in the
previous month for such things.

* Have someone read one Kernel book story, or one of
the NFB brochures or pamphlets, etc. at every meeting,
same as we do with the Presidential Release each month.
Depending on what's read, this can both help inspire
and educate, as well as help a group stay focused, over
time.

* Set up a small committee tasked to act as the
chapter's Speaker's Bureau, bringing in speakers that
have a connection to blindness, but may be on a more
broad level of interest. Work to promote the meetings
ahead of time in your community, allowing for the
public which may be interested also, to find out more
details from you and be able to attend the meeting.
Work out the relationship with the public speaker, the
transportation if necessary to get them to and from
your meeting, and any other such plans to benefit the
speaker while also benefitting from the speaker.

* Work out some group trips among your chapter
members. Some you'll only have to work out the
transportation. A trip to the National office in
Baltimore for a weekend Leadership seminar (yes, they
can be setup and personalized for your group, talk to
Dan Frye, I think). You'll only have to pay for the
ways to get there and back again. Some ski trips are
the same, if enough people want to go as a group.
Check out the DS-USA.ORG site for their calendar of
upcoming ski trips. They provide guides, ski passes,
etc. All you do is have to get there and back again.

Hope This Helped, Somehow!
Everett
