                              Café Conversations

The Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission (RSC) invites you, our consumers, partners, and community, to participate in a Café Conversation to provide input into three (3) items: "2012 Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) State Plan," "State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL)" and "Renaming RSC."

Please note updated additional Café Conversation information, including newly added times and locations below.

                              Seeking Your Input

The first item we are seeking your input on is RSC's 2012 VR State Plan. The 2012 VR State Plan describes RSC's priorities for the upcoming year. It includes details about partnerships, staff development and a variety of innovation and expansion activities. This is a wonderful opportunity to provide feedback about RSC's Plan while it is still in the development stages.

The second item we are seeking your input on is the increase in funds for the State Plan for Independent Living. Funds were increased by an additional $100,000 to expand services to underserved counties in Ohio. Funds were awarded to Western Reserve Independent Living Center in Trumbull County and services will be offered to Ashtabula and Columbiana Counties. For additional information about the State Plan for Independent Living, please visit the Ohio Statewide Independent Living Center's website at http://www.ohiosilc.org/index.php?page=legal

The last item we want your input on is renaming RSC. Oftentimes, people who need vocational rehabilitation assistance do not know about RSC services. People confuse RSC with other state agencies (e.g., Rehab and Corrections). To provide people with disabilities with greater access to RSC, we would like your ideas on a possible name change for RSC.
