AWARE

I began this week by meeting with Alliance, the company developing the new
AWARE case management system for our consumers serviced under the vocational
rehabilitation program. The meeting focused on the status of the AWARE
system implementation that is scheduled to go live at the beginning of
October. We are replacing OSCAR, the current case management system. It is
imperative that we use the best tools available to monitor, track and
resolve our consumer cases. It was a productive meeting and I am confident
that we will continue working together to ensure our staff has the resources
necessary to achieve successful outcomes for Ohioans with disabilities.

Ohio Congressional Delegation Meetings

Nick Blazer, Legislative Liaison, and I traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet
with our federal partners and Ohio congressional leaders to discuss issues
that have a direct impact on RSC.  The offices we met with include Speaker
of the House John Boehner, Senator Rob Portman, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur,
Congressmen Pat Tiberi, Bill Johnson, Jim Jordan, and Bob Latta.  We
discussed the federal resources RSC utilizes each year and the ways in which
we can be more effective going forward. I shared that the Division of
Disability Determination processed over 200,000 claims in the past year
while exceeding SSA's accuracy goal of 98.1 percent.

We provided a summary of RSC's dedicated efforts to reduce overhead costs
and drive more dollars into serving people with disabilities. In the past
few months, RSC has reduced the number of field offices from 33 to 14, which
produced savings of $1.2 million. Nick and I will continue to work to ensure
we have an ongoing partnership with our federal congressional team.

Meeting with RSA Commissioner Ruttledge 

Following the Rehabilitation Services Administration's (RSA) determination
regarding our third-party arrangements, I met with RSA Commissioner Lynnae
Ruttledge. I shared with her RSC's appreciation for their hard work in
getting us a determination on this important issue. I briefed her on our
2012-2013 Strategic Plan and the goals we plan to achieve in the future. I
am looking forward to continuing the open dialogue we have established with
RSA so we are able to be in full compliance with each of their regulations.

agencies' applications. This will go a long way in showing Ohioans that we
