Hi Cheryl, Everett and Everyone Else,
While I have had the iPhone for 2 years now, I do not profess to be an
expert on it. What I can tell you is that it is completely accessible. Yes,
it is a touch screen, but the Accessibility Setting called Voice-Over solves
that problem. It allows one to touch anywhere on the screen and have the
phone announce what icon, menu item, text, etc. you have pointed to. it that
was an item you wanted to select, you would then "double tap" anywhere on
the screen and it will open that operation.
 
All text messages are read to you and available to review whenever you want
to listen again. Your outgoing messages can be listened to as you write
them. Writing them is done with a on-screen qwerty keyboard. It works on the
same premise of selecting an operation. Tap the keyboard area to find your
letter, "double-tap" it to enter it into the text area.

I use the Calendar, Alarm, Timer, Voice Memo, Notes, iPod, Calculator and
Safari to go on to the internet. The possibilities are endless with all the
Apps you can download. Who knows which of those are accessible and which are
not, but there are there for the picking!

I am not familiar with the Braille overlay, but it would only apply to the
bottom row of Icons which do not change from page to page if you have
multiple screens. There are only four of these icons.

Also, this Verizon iPhone has not been changed in any way from any other
iPhone on the market. It is merely adapted for the Verizon network.

I have not been reading *every* post on the iPhones, I admit.  Mainly
because I'll be damned if I'm going to pay $200 for any phone, above and
beyond the monthly charges for a 2-year contract (smile).  I am interested
in the accessibility and especially the Net capabilities, though, and will
likely have one someday soon.  I'm curious as to the real accessibility of
it.  It's a touch-screen.  Does it really speak ALL things?  And also, is
that Braille overlay for the screen I heard about awhile back, still
available?  I think Solona was selling it, but heard that very recently the
person behind Solona was sick and unable to do the Captcha stuff on their
own, since no one ever stepped-up to help when volunteers were asked for.
So, is Solona still able to sell and mail-out those Braille overlays for the
iPhones?  Anyone know?
