Brian recently got word that he has been accepted to the NFB Law Program of 2011 in April in Washington, D.C.  I will be going with Brian as his chaperone.  We are so excited!  I can't wait and hope to learn and gain some useful information from the program.  I understand they only accepted 24 students into the program.  I am so happy that Brian is one of them.  I will have to let you know about our experience and what we take away from the program.

 

Brian is doing really good up at the Ohio State School for the Blind.  He is really enjoying the school and is adjusting well.  He is on the junior swim team right now and we have been told that he is a very strong swimmer and could possibly one day qualify for the international disability team.  I told him to continue to work hard and keep his grades up and with great determination he could be there one day.  He is learning Braille, technology, orientation/mobility, and his regular educational studies.  We are dropping him off on Sunday evening and he stays until Thursday after school.  He is still receiving chemo treatments on Friday's.  He will continue to receive chemo until September of this year.  We are so proud of him!  Karl and I have come a long way and have finally come to terms with everything and know we have made the right choice and realize Brian is going to be fine and he is such a wonderful bright kid!

 

Thanks again for everything!  Just wanted to keep you posted, since I haven't seen Ebony to update her.  Hope all is well with you and the family.
