Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio 

To kick-off this holiday-shortened week, I met with the Down Syndrome
Association of Central Ohio. I gave a presentation that covered the
importance of 3rd party arrangements to enhance the services RSC provides to
individuals with disabilities. We are determined to make both the match
requirements for RSC to draw down federal dollars and the federal
requirements to use these funds, clear to our partners across the state. It
is also essential that stakeholders understand the realities of our budget
request to keep up to 25% for program services costs to RSC on third party
contracts - and the impact if this funding isn't restored in the state
budget.  

 


Oakstone Academy

 

I also had a great follow-up meeting with Oakstone Academy. Similar to our
work to increase our presence at the Ohio State School for the Blind,
increased visability at the Oakstone Academy will allow students with autism
to be aware of the services RSC provides as they transition from being a
student to seeking employment opportunities. I will be sure to keep all of
you updated as we continue our talks with schools who serve students with
disabilities to improve our transitional outreach.



Ohio Council of Behavioral Health & Family Service Providers

Associate Director, Pat Bridgman, of the Ohio Council of Behavioral Health
and Family Services Providers and RSC Director Kevin Miller at a meeting
earlier today. 

To close out the week, I met with Associate Director, Pat Bridgman, and the
Employment Services Committee of the Ohio Council of Behavioral Health and
Family Services Providers. We discussed our partnership with the Ohio
Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ODADAS) that is paving
the way to offer job-training services to ex-opiate addicts. We believe our
Recovery to Work program can have a positive impact for individuals and
their families and are anxious to engage as many interested parties as
possible to ensure this program has the greatest impact possible.  That's
why I'm so pleased these frontline professionals will add their expertise to
our Recovery to Work Initiative.
