Budget


I wish I could express to all of you the work we have been doing on our
budget and lobbying for our needs to serve individuals with disabilities. It
would take several pages. Just know it means many trips to the statehouse,
late night phone calls and stress for everyone involved. I can assure you
that no matter what occurs with our budget, no one will be able to say we
didn't do all we could to improve our budget position.



Controlling Board 

 

I attended the Controlling Board at the Statehouse to address questions
about RSC's building leases across the state. I was able to communicate our
plan to restructure some of our building spaces in this time of economic
hardship and belt-tightening. By streamlining our regional offices and
shifting to embedding staff in the community, we will save over $1 million
to offset budget losses.

 

 


DDD Managers Meeting 


I met with the area managers to hear updates on the balanced assignment
initiative and our numbers for the week (cases assigned, closures, hearings,
etc.). The entire staff at DDD continues to increase productivity and hit
their goals, despite having 20-30 fewer staff than last year. Keep it up!!
 

 

 


Goodwill Easter Seals of Dayton

 

To cap off the week, I sat down with Amy Lutrell, President and Bob Pawlak,
Vice President of Goodwill Easter Seals of Dayton. We discussed what
guidelines must be followed in federal law for the construction of
rehabilitation facilities.

Café Conversation held earlier this year. 

 

Café conversations are being scheduled for staff to address three items: 1.)
Renaming  RSC; 2.) Identifying areas we should reevaluate to make the best
possible use of our resources; and 3.) If we do another Café Conversation,
what would you like to talk about?
 

I value staff's input. As mentioned in the e-mail, the Café Conversations
