VRP3 Coordinator Training
I wish to recognize the following Rehabilitation Program Specialists for all their hard work in training the new group of VRP3 Coordinators this week. They are April Bagley, Aneesa Locke-Hines and Rebecca Halstead of Columbus; James Lake of Akron; and Gary Russell of Mansfield.
Small Business Development Center
This week, I attended a meeting of the Small Business Development Centers. The Small Business Development Centers provide advice, consultation and sometimes space to budding entrepreneurs across Ohio. We know Ohioans with disabilities can thrive and prosper in building their own businesses. I'm looking forward to exploring more options on how we can leverage these state resources to empower individuals with disabilities.
Superintendents of County Boards of Developmental Disabilities
BSVI Deputy Director Connors, Community Relations Liaison Marchi and I met with the Superintendents of County Board of Developmental Disabilities where I presented RSC's 2011 Initiatives and talked about RSC's partnerships with the county boards
Team Building Exercises
Our DDD managerial team participated in a leadership forum with consultant, Jo Krippenstapel, to further hone their skills in management and leadership. I have begun scheduling meetings with individual teams.
Twitter Account
I am thrilled to announce that RSC has joined Twitter. As noted in a previous Weekly Focus, we need to take advantage of new communication tools to streamline the way in which we communicate with our consumers, partners and staff. RSC's account can be found at https://twitter.com/OHRSC. Please use your own computer and account when following us on Twitter.
National Federation of the Blind
Vice President Eric Duffy and President Dr. J. W. Smith of the National Federation of the Blind meet with Director Miller and BVR Deputy Director Connors to discuss better ways to serve Ohioans with disabilities.
Deputy Director Connors, Administrative Assistant Diane Koren and I met with the National Federation of the Blind of Ohio's President Dr. J.W. Smith and Vice President Eric Duffy. We spoke about the ways we can partner with the National Federation of the Blind. One of the ways we achieve better results for Ohioans with disabilities is improving the way we work together.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Bocar Dieng, Receptionist, Director's Office, on becoming an American citizen!
