Mr. Smith - thank you for taking the time to let me introduce myself this
morning on the phone.  As we discussed, I am acting deputy director in place
of Dan Connors, filling in while Director Miller continues to search for the
best person to fill this position.  I want to reassure you and your
constituency of our continued commitment to ensure high quality service to
Ohioans who are blind or visually impaired.  

I have worked in the agency as a counselor, supervisor, assistant and area
manager as well as my most recent position of assistant deputy director for
Vocational Rehabilitation.  I have been working directly with all our field
staff over the past several years, including BSVI counselors.  I have a
strong understanding of the vocational rehabilitation process and look
forward to this opportunity to continue to increase that knowledge as it
relates to services to those who are blind or visually impaired.
