[Ohio-talk] Buckeye Update

 Hello Cheryl and All,
I certainly think that we have had some discussion of our short-term and long-term goals.
IT is impoqtant to have input from those in the NFBO but there are some things that aren't negotiable. These are things which are required in our Constitution and our Resolutions.
We also must be sure to follow National policies.
None of us will agree with everything but we should still work for the policies the NFB and NFBO have established.
Thinking outside the box is good. There needs to be creativity but there also needs to be a balance to meet the needs of everyone.
Our primary interest is blind people. We do need to involve everyone but there are some people who need extra assistance to understand what is happening.
Sometimes it is helpful for someone from a person's local chapter to work with someone who is not able to function within the constraints of a meeting.
I am glad we are trying to get a Deaf Blind Division in Ohio.
Leaders do not need to be members of the Board. Leaders are people who volunteer to do things, do what they are asked to do including followthrough and accept the fact that not all ideas will be implemented.
I can say that I have never been shy about expressing my opinions. I am trying to listen to suggestions from others. If we try something and it doesn't work we should be willing to go back to something which did work.
I am going to throw something out to see what happens.
This is thinking out of the box. Some of us do not have the stamina to travel to a Convention on Friday morning.
What about some of you who live where a Convention is being held being hosts for Thursday night if people have a long way to travel or do not have the Stamina to leave early Friday morning?
I do not know how many people would need or want to do this but it might be helpful.
I know that some people might not want someone to stay with them and that it might not be convenient because they are getting ready for the Convention.
This is just a thought.
What about getting people signed up for the Convention by getting people booked on a Megabus?
I understand if you do this early you can get really lucky with rates.
Some of us who have been around for a while have some tricks of the trade which might have those who come to Convention.
Colleen Roth
