COME ONE AND COME ALL
You are all invited to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday? Along with promoting Braille Literacy sponsored by the Cleveland Chapter and advocated by the National Federation of the Blind. Read Below and pass it on!!!
In 1998 the National Education Association<http://www.nea.org/> began celebrating Read Across America<http://www.readacrossamerica.org/> as one more way to motivate youth to read! This year, because Dr. Seuss's birthday falls on the weekend, Read Across America will be celebrated on Friday, March 1 in schools and libraries across the country. As in years past, the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) will be joining in this celebration of literacy for all children-focusing particularly on the importance of Braille literacy. Read Across America asks everyone across the country to celebrate reading and Dr. Seuss on March 1. The NFB is asking you to celebrate with us and spread the good news about Braille! Join us on March 1 to extol the significance of literacy, especially Braille literacy.
Therefore, as stated above that was taken from the website of the National Office, the Cleveland Chapter will celebrate at the Cleveland Sight Center at 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on March 1, 2013. We are inviting all who read Braille, their family members, friends and those who have concerns for Braille literacy.
We will read several texts from Dr. Seuss's collection, such as "Cat in the Hat as well as, Green Eggs and Ham" And others in Braille. The Cleveland Chapter will serve hot chocolate and cookies for the little ones and for you old ones too!!
