Good Morning:
I just received this information and would advise if you are interested to call and register as a back-up plan.
Suzanne
Please pass along the following information to individuals with disabilities who may be interested in participating as "actors" in a simulated disaster event.
In conjunction with Cuyahoga County Office of Emergency Management and Red Cross of Greater Cleveland, Cuyahoga County Citizens Corps is planning a full scale exercise (disaster response) and clients of Cleveland Sight Center are invited to participate in this exercise. For the first time, Cuyahoga County is including people with functional needs, as "actors" during this exercise. One component of the exercise is the establishment of an emergency shelter. Representatives from the county are recruiting "actors" who would be interested in participating in this exercise, which is scheduled for Sunday, February 10, 1 PM to 5 PM. The shelter will be established at the Brecksville Human Services Center.
The goal is to provide the potential shelter staff with opportunities to experience accommodating people with functional needs. For our clients, the emergency response staff may need to assist with completing paperwork (or providing materials in large print) and familiarize clients with the shelter layout. As "actors", clients would have the opportunity to make suggestions to improve the services they would receive in a shelter in event of a large disaster. The attachment provides details. Pre-registration is required. Please contact Pat Buckhold for details.
Thank you!
