NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND OF OHIO

BRAILLE ENRICHMENT FOR
                  LITERACY AND LEARNING
(BELL) SUMMER PROGRAM

This program is sponsored by the National Federation of the Blind Jernigan
Institute, in partnership with the National Federation of the Blind of Ohio
and the NFB of Ohio Parents of Blind Children Division.

Are you the parent, guardian, or teacher of a low-vision child who would
benefit from learning Braille? We have a wonderful opportunity for these
students this summer!
The BELL summer program is a two-week day program (weekends not included)
offering prekindergarten and elementary age low-vision beginning Braille
readers immersion in Braille and fun, increasing their use of tactile skills
for reading. Children will receive Braille instruction daily as well as
learn alternative nonvisual techniques through arts and crafts, games, field
trips, and other fun.
A parent seminar will offer parents practical strategies to incorporate
nonvisual learning and Braille in their children's daily lives.
This program will be led by a certified teacher of the blind who will be
assisted by positive blind role models and local volunteers.

Program Dates: July 15-26, 2013 (week days only)
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Location: 470 Glenmont Avenue in Columbus
