Hi all, 

 

Over the past few days I have been in contact with Darian Smith, who is
interested in taking his community service group to the next level and
turning it into a devision.  Initially we just talked about having me speak
about my experiences with community service if my schedule allows it, but
the more I learn about the group the more I see what a worthwhile and great
addition it would be as an NFB devision.  I think it would be a great
seminar to attend for anyone who is going to convention and is interested in
the matter.  Topics covered will not only include ways to get involved in
community service, but also using community service as a means to change
what it means to be blind and to educate sighted service learners about
blindness while in the process of giving back to others.  While this notice
was initially targeted at the students in NABS community service can relate
to everyone regardless of age, and I'm sure Darian would like to have
speakers from different age groups, professions, and backgrounds to get a
good mix of speakers.  If interested his email is below.
