RSC TO HOST TOWN HALL MEETINGS

Attendees to hear update on RSC important initiatives

COLUMBUS – The Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission (RSC) is hosting a series of town hall style meetings to update partners, providers and other interested parties on initiatives that RSC is undertaking to assist individuals with disabilities. Director Kevin Miller will moderate the informative session and will be joined by members of RSC’s executive staff who will provide updates and answer questions for those in attendance.

Topics that are planned to be discussed are:

·      Name change of agency from Rehabilitation Services Commission to Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities Agency;

·      Recently completed University of Cincinnati Ohio Poll results;

·      State Biennial Budget Bill – Additional allocation from Ohio General Assembly and signed by Governor John Kasich;

·      Hiring of additional counselors to eliminate the wait list for individuals who have the Most Significant Disabilities and Significant Disabilities on the Order of Selection Waiting List;

·      The Ohio Employment First Initiative;

·      Business Engagement – How RSC is changing the way we interface with employers;

·      Dual certification of providers between RSC and the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities;

·      Contracting with RSC; and

·      The 2013 DisAbility Jobs Summit at the Columbus Convention Center on October 8-9, 2013.

RSC is excited to have the opportunity to host these sessions around the state to spotlight the positive direction that we are taking to assist individuals with disabilities. RSC’s mission is to assist individuals with disabilities achieve quality employment, independence, or disability determination through integrated services, partnerships and innovation.
