[Ohio-talk] FW: Currency Readers Available September 2, 2014

A while back, Dave Andrews sent a message to the national leadership lists 
about the currency reader and gave a number to call on September 2nd or 
later.  I called on September 2nd and discovered that it was a general 
information number for NLS.  If you pressed 1 you got information about 
eligibility for the service; if you pressed 2, you got information about 
content; if you pressed 3, you'd be referred to your closest library.  So I 
called the Ohio Library for the Blind in Cleveland, and they ordered it for 
me.  They said that it won't be sent out until after the first of the year. 
I threw away the number Dave Andrews gave us, so I don't know if it was the 
same one Richard and J.W. sent to Ohio Talk.  If you wait to call until 
after the 1st of the year, then you'll get it right away.  From Dave's 
announcement, it soundedas though the currency readers were passed out at 
the Blinded Veterans Association convention as well as ours.  I don't know 
if that means that the veterans get it free if they're a member of the 
association, or whether they have to be registered with NLS too.
