[Ohio-talk] State convention NFB Ohio

Debra

I am not sure what you are asking because only one bus is being considered & if all convention activities begin Friday morning, there would be no way to travel on Friday. I thought it was determined last year that the board meeting would be on Thursday eve in order to squeeze everything possible into Friday & Saturday. Correct me if I am wrong. I wouldn't want to miss anything.

Carol,
Before I give this conversation any serious thought, I have one question:
Which day are you talking about departure?  Thursday or Friday?
The board meeting is Thursday and many people may not wish to go that day.
Thank you.
Deborah

Richard, sorry for delay, but I was in church.  To answer your question,  in
order to keep it at the $100 per seat price, we need at least 50 people to
commit, as we would like to be able to tip the driver without asking for
extra donations.

There are several ways we could look at this, as Karen said. The chapters
could split the costs & then charge their members who ride,  to recover the
cost, or we could have each person pay for their seat or seats.  Problem is,
we cannot wait until November to decide to do this. If we decide to book the
bus, we must give a deposit within 10 days, with balance due by October 20.
Question becomes, if this method isn't used, how much are members willing
to pay out to travel?  I haven't discovered a method of transit directly
into Indepence, Ohio, other than private drivers. But once again, that could
entail extra costs since most drivers may not want to drive the up to 5
hours one way just to turn around drive home & repeat the trip on Sunday.
That is over 1,000 miles. Do the math if you pay per mile! Or if the driver
stays the weekend in the hotel, added costs to each group who hires drivers.
Just saying food for thought.

Carol

How many people would have to commit to ride to get that price? R

Good Saturday morning to all!

Wow, we are 4 Saturdays away from our in person State Board Meeting and less
than 90 days from our state convention in Independence Ohio. Time flies. How
many are beginning to plan for travel to convention? I would like to throw
something out to you as an efficient, cost effective idea. Karen Warner & I
have been doing some research on a bus trip for convention & here are the
facts.

For $100 a person/seat we can have pick up points in 4 cities- being
Cincinnati, Dayton, Springfield & Columbus for round trip travel to
convention.

What does that mean for you? That means one driver, no worries about finding
rides or traveling to a bus station & finding transportation to the hotel
and back. Not having to go by the Greyhound schedule or Mega bus schedule,
or pay per mile for private drivers who then have to either stay in town for
the weekend or end up making 4 trips back & forth instead of a round trip.
etc. Why not ride together, have fun and not worry about extra issues. We
have ideas for making it a fun trip.

Who is interested?
