Hi, Kelsey,

Unfortunately the emersion aspect is a huge part of the model the NFB
uses in the training centers. This is because people have very
different home lives that may not always encourage trainees to be
independent and put the skills they're being taught into practice.
I'm not saying that a day program would not be effective, but emersion
plays a major role and is a valuable part of the training center
experience.

There are other centers that teach independence skills around the
country in day formats and in models other than the ones used by the
NFB. I've heard a lot about the Carol Center in Boston and know
someone who was excited to receive training from there. I've also
heard Kentucky recently opened some type of a center but I don't know
how good that one is.
