Dear Kaiti Shelton and federation members,
The Email that I sent is a planning call for members of this affiliate to
began working on a series of fundraising efforts. I am inviting all
federation members and friends.
The last call like this had very few people and it was one of the best.
You and others need to join the call.
This is the NFB I know united we can get the money we need to send members
to the national and also to the state convention.
We are asking you to join the call because you are part of the boots on the
ground.
One of my favorite presidents said it somewhat like this.
Ask not what the NFB can do for you but what you can do for the NFB.
You can help people and that is part of the gift.
I told Eric that I was willing to chair a committee following the drive for
75 and have began calling it the march for independence.
We need to reach out and shout to the state of Ohio are you ready?
When I talk about marching to independence Ohio I mean it.
I think we should organize a march for independence in Columbus and even
march in independence Ohio.
I am giving you this because you asked.
This is just one thing that sticks out.
I hope you will be on the call because several things will develop on that
call.
The first thing we MUST do well ahead of time is crucial so we have
time to line up the key ingredients for our first event.
Here's what we need to be thinking about at 4 months out:
. What type of event will we hold? we want to have fun, of course,
and draw lots of people. We may even look at golf, bolling and many other
fundraisers because they are popular and fun. It's a great way for people
to spend the day with close friends while raising money for a good cause.
It's very important to keep the type of event we choose engaging. Think of
events people would want to be involved in and share with the people in
their networks. The main draw is FUN, FUN, FUN. Keep our audience in mind
as we make the decision.
. When and where will we hold our event? The good old adage of
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION is also an important thing to think about. The
venue helps get people excited about our fundraiser. We should choose very
nice golf courses for our events because most of the people playing didn't
get to play these courses on a regular basis. This made the fundraising
event special for them. Also remember, we are competing with other
organizations looking for a great venue. This is why it's important to start
at least 4 months out so we can lock down a date and time at the venue of
your choice.
. Who can we get to sponsor our event? The short answer is anyone
and everyone. Start with your company, local businesses, and ask your
registrants if their companies want to get involved. Beyond that reach out
to local restaurants for gift cards or food donations. Remember, companies
use this as advertising. Treat this like a business opportunity for them.
Most companies, especially local businesses have a budget to do this every
year. So the earlier you start mining for free stuff like goodie bags and
food donations the better

Richard,
Could you provide some more details on this? Where, what we'd need to do,
etc? Especially since it is coming up so soon.
